Mary E. Schultz, age 88, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, March 03, 2024 at Willow Manor in Vincennes,
She was born on March 18, 1935 in Greencastle, Indiana, the daughter of Owen Doyle and Marge (Rumley) McCullough. She married Russell Gale ‘Putt’ Schultz on September 24, 1952, and he preceded her in death on November 25, 1985.
Mary was a homemaker, and owned and operated Mary’s Beauty Shop in Sumner, Illinois. She retired after 40 plus years. She attended the Union Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, bird watching, cooking, and her family, especially her grandchildren. In earlier years, Mary enjoyed camping with her husband, “Putt”.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; five brothers, Melvin McCullough, Doyle McCullough, Jesse McCullough, Clint McCullough, John McCullough, and Dennis McCullough; one sister, Carole Fisher; and one son, Gale W. Schultz.
Survivors include two sons, Roger O. Schultz and wife, Sandra of Sumner, Illinois and Gary D. Schultz and wife, Jan of Bridgeport, Illinois; one brother, Richard McCullough and wife, Mary Lee of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one sister, Kay Hansman of Carmi, Illinois; one daughter-in-law, Deborah Schultz Heath of Sumner, Illinois; six grandchildren, Shelby Schultz, Nichole and husband, Nathan Biehl, Erin and husband, JD Robinson, Travis and wife, Crystal Schultz, Matthew and wife, Lori Schultz and Michael and wife, Stephanie Schultz; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 06, 2024 at 11:30am CST at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois. Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 10:00am until the service hour of 11:30am CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sumner Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
