Michael ‘Mike’ E. Sechrest, age 72, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
Michael ‘Mike’ E. Sechrest, age 72, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. He was born on December 21, 1952 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of Merton C. and Flora M. (Thompson) Sechrest. He married Marsha Eagleson on September 04, 1976, and she survives.
Mike served his country in the United States Navy, and was a post office carrier for 17-1/2 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Roger Sechrest; one sister, Patty Stoltz; and one grandson, Alexander Glenn.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha; two daughters, Michele Glenn and husband, Adam of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Myka Sechrest and husband, David Beabout of Evansville, Indiana; two brothers, Calvin Sechrest and wife, Wanda of Lawrenceville, Illinois and John Sechrest and wife, Jane of Harrisburg, Illinois; one sister, Barbara ‘Bobbie’ Eckiss and companion, Brian of Las Vegas, Nevada; two brothers-in-law, Gary Stoltz of Lexington, Kentucky and Lonnie Eagleson and wife, Tina of Evansville, Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Sechrest of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Karen Martin and husband, Bill of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one God daughter, Alyssa Brink of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two God granddaughters, Meleea and Brianna; his dog, Otis; three grandpups, Polly, Renny, and Maggie; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 11:00 AM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery, with military rites.
