Nancy J. Bohlen passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, surrounded by family members in her home in Xenia, Ohio.

Born December 12, 1934 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, Nancy Joan was the firstborn of Clifford and Dorothy (Barnhardt) Conley. Before the start of her senior year in high school, Nancy’s family moved to Effingham, Illinois, where she graduated in 1953. After high school, Nancy began her career with the Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. She retired after serving over 30 years as a customer service representative for Ameritech, formerly Indiana Bell.

After retiring, Nancy moved to Centerville, Ohio. She attended Fairhaven Church and enjoyed going to the Washington Township Recreation Center exercise classes. Nancy had a talent for sewing and making beautiful counted cross-stitch pictures. She was a creative person and over her lifetime had many hobbies, making gifts for family and friends. However, there was nothing that gave her more joy than being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and watching them grow through visits, pictures, and videos.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her brothers, Dan Conley and Mike Conley. She is survived by her children, Kathy Paice (Dave) of Xenia, Ohio, Dan Bohlen (Colleen) of Ellettsville, Indiana, Jerry Bohlen (Kim) of Franklin, Tennessee, and Glenn Bohlen (Lourdes) of Evansville, Indiana; sisters, Dorothy Sue Scobbie of Jacksonville, Illinois and Sally Detweiler of Eureka, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the staff of Legacy Village Assisted Living in Xenia, where Nancy lived and will be remembered for her independent spirit. Nancy’s family is grateful to Kimberly Care and Ohio’s Hospice for the care they provided.

A service to honor Nancy’s life will be conducted at Fairhaven Church, 637 East Whipp Road, Centerville, Ohio on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Lawrenceville Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Illinois at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s honor to the Celebrate Recovery ministry at Fairhaven Church.
