Penny Lu (Carter) Fox, age 80 of Lawrenceville, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. She was born September 14, 1942 in Lawrenceville to Lewis Carter and his wife Mary Elizabeth (Willis) Carter. On December 28, 1959 in Lawrenceville, Penny married Barry Ray Fox. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1999. Together they raised a large and loving family and made many wonderful memories. Penny was a member of the VFW Post #2244 Auxiliary and enjoyed bowling, poker slots, camping, word searches, and decorating her home for all the holidays and seasons. She was a wonderful homemaker to her family. Penny had worked at Suttle Apparatus, Roadmaster (AMF), Candlelight Restaurant, and briefly at Kohlhouse Video. Surviving family includes: five daughters- Lynn Fox of Lawrenceville, Susie Seed and companion Bruce Primus of Lawrenceville, Peggy Volkman and husband Dwayne of Lawrenceville, Angie Clark and husband Dwayne of Lawrenceville, Jodi Steber and husband Brett of Claremont: twelve grandchildren- Kyle, William, and Chaelan Fox; Ashlee Walls, Adam Fox, Andrea McBride, Jozie Fox; Aubrey Seed; Luke Volkman; Karter Clark; and Kennedy Jo and Kelby Steber: several great-grandchildren: one brother- Michael Carter and wife Patty of Lawrenceville: three sisters- Gretta Ann Seed and husband Bob of Bridgeport, Peg Foster and husband Steve of Lawrenceville, and Paula Mieure and husband David of Lawrenceville: and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents- Lewis and Mary Elizabeth Carter: her husband- Barry Ray Fox: one son- Richard Fox: three grandchildren- Wyatt, Myles, and Shelby: and eight siblings. Visitation for Penny will take place Thursday evening, January 5, 2023, at the Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home.
