Philip Ray Sharum, age 89, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at his residence.

Philip Ray Sharum, age 89, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at his residence. He was born on December 04, 1935 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of George W. Sharum and Frank and Beulah Mae (Stevens) O’Brien. He married Sandra ‘Arlene’ Wright on December 09, 1956, and she preceded him in death on February 02, 2007.

Phil served his country in the United States Navy, during the Korean War. He was a Lawrenceville City Police Officer for 20 years, owned and operated Sharum Sewer Service for 40 years, and owned and operated the Hoagy House with his wife, Arlene. His memberships included the VFW, Eagles, and Goldwing Road Riders Association. Phil was very proud of his granddaughters, and loved helping them. He enjoyed traveling with Arlene, playing cards with his friends, and boating. In his later years, he enjoyed motorcycling riding and spending time with Karen Armstrong.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; one son, Greg Sharum; one brother, Donald Sharum; and one sister, Elizabeth Woodward.

Survivors include two children, Wendy Brinkman and husband, Dusty of Mt. Carmel, Illinois and Grant Sharum and companion, Peggy Wesley of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two sisters, Mary Allen and husband, Tom of Texas and Shirley Martin and husband, Lowell of Illinois; three granddaughters, Melissa Rucker and husband, Chad, Audra Coons and husband, Dereck, and Holly White and husband, Joe; and four great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Marina, Gage, and Silas.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Monday from 11:00 AM until the service hour of 1:00 PM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Lawrence County Cancer Resource Center & Wig Shoppe.
