Ralph ‘Sonny’ Potts, Jr., age 87, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, February 08, 2025 at his residence.
Ralph ‘Sonny’ Potts, Jr., age 87, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, February 08, 2025 at his residence. He was born on January 19, 1938 in Pampa, Texas, the son of Ralph and Anna M. (Green) Potts. He married Anita McNabb on June 25, 1960, and she survives.
Sonny served his country in the United States Army. He worked for Illinois Gas Company for 35 years. After he retired, he then worked for Tracy Electric. His memberships included Central Christian Church, NRA, and Masonic Lodge-Lodge 912. He enjoyed doing woodwork and teasing everyone.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother-in-law, David Holmes; one sister-in-law, Shirley Finney; and two nephews, Kelly Finney and Jeff Holmes
Survivors include his wife, Anita; two sons, Jason T. Potts and wife, Vicki of Martinsville, Illinois and Kurtis Potts of Lawrenceville, Illinois; three brothers, Cledus ‘Jack’ Potts and wife, Sharon of Clinton, Indiana, James Potts and wife, Theresa of Finley, Ohio, and Jerry Potts and wife, Jane of New Orleans, Louisiana; three sisters, Margie Ann Holmes of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Carolyn Sue Potts and husband, Eldon of Joplin, Missouri, and Barbara Crites and husband, Frank of Flint, Michigan; three grandchildren, Joshua Potts and wife, Michelle, Andrea Warner and husband, Aaron, and Jacob Potts and wife, Mackenzi; and seven great-grandchildren, Reid Warner, Austyn Warner, Ryan E. Warner, Judson Potts, Millie Potts, Josie Potts, and Madelyn Potts.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the service hour of 11:00 AM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
