Ron Archer, age 81, of Grapevine, Texas passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022. He was born on September 17, 1941 in Mitchell, Indiana to Grover and Dorothy Archer. Ron was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and staying current with politics. He was a sports fan, and enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, the Texas Rangers, and IU Basketball (Go Hoosiers!). Ron was raised as a preacher’s son and lived all over the state of Indiana, as his father was regularly transferred from church to church. He was a natural athlete in basketball and track, breaking state records. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and spent four of the most significant years of his life serving his country. He was honorably discharged for employment with GTE/Verizon, where he had a 34-year career as an electrical engineer. He married the love of his life, Linda, in 1967 and they had two daughters that they raised in Bloomington, Illinois and Grapevine, Texas. He retired at the age of 55 and then enjoyed caring for his grandchildren and community activities in Grapevine. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda Archer; and one sister, Donna Jean Archer. Survivors include two daughters, Amy VanHook of Grapevine, Texas and Beth Livingston and husband, Jeff of Charlotte, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Michael VanHook, Natalie VanHook, Lauren Livingston, and William Livingston; one sister, Elizabeth Grant; one nephew, Matthew Sunkel; three brothers-in-law, Tracey Gay (Amy), Eric Gay, and Damon Gay (Lorraine); as well as numerous cousins and extended family members.
