Rosalie Brylene Johnson-McCord, shed her earthly bonds on October 15, 2024, surrounded by her family.

From the children of Rosalie McCord:

Our mother, Rosalie Brylene Johnson-McCord, shed her earthly bonds on October 15, 2024, surrounded by her family. She went as she lived, in peace. Quietly stepping out of this realm into the next.

Those that have gone on before are her beloved husband, Norman L. McCord; her parents, Mildred Lotha Mae and Burl Johnson; two brothers, Thomas Wayne Johnson and Earl Eugene Johnson; grandsons, Dustin Jefferson, Cameron Neal, and Todd Wayne Jefferson, Jr.(infant); and great-grandson, Gauge Dinkelmann. She leaves behind two sisters to celebrate her transition to Heaven, Darlene Sue Pullen and Berdena Walden-McGill.

The mother of eight natural born children, Rose was vocally thankful and somewhat surprised that all of her children are still alive. When you talk to her children, they will usually refer to her as “My Mom!” because she treated each one of them with individual love. Her children are Terri Mimms, Ralph Jefferson, Dena Jefferson, Valerie Holbrook, Ben Jefferson, Todd Jefferson, G.J. Jefferson, Regina McCord-Fithian, and loving stepmother to Norman’s daughters, Starla McCord, Carleen McCord, and Norma McCord.

From these 11 children, Rosalie became grandmother to 30 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. To avoid writing a novel, we did not include the names of all of Rose and Norman’s descendants. But if you were to review the list of names it is easy to see how God could promise Abraham that a nation can come from one person.

Our mother did not want a review of her earthly accomplishments to be the focus of her obituary. She said it does not matter how or where she received her education, the jobs she held, the church where she worshiped, or the charities she participated in. She believed the only thing worth considering an accomplishment when it was her time to leave this earth was whether she had obeyed the one commandment that would prove she is a child of God.

John 13:35-34

A new commandment I give unto you. That ye love one another; as I have loved you. That ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

By this commandment, Rosalie Brylene McCord lived her life. And when she stood before her heavenly father, we have no doubt his words to her were, Well done, good and faithful servant! [Matthew 25:23]
