Heaven gained a beautiful soul on Monday, December 16, 2024. Rose Marie Seitzinger, age 77 of Lawrenceville, passed away surrounded by love at AperionCare- Bridgeport. She was born into this earthly world on March 9, 1947 on Scott Air Force Base to Vern W. Vaught and his wife Ruby D. (Jordan) Vaught.

Rose married the love of her life, James “Jim” Seitzinger on November 25, 1965 at Union Chapel Church. For over 50 years, Jim and Rose built a beautiful legacy and were rarely seen apart. Their four boys grew up in a home with love and encouragement in all of their endeavors. After failing health became too much, Jim passed away on April 10, 2016. Rose has missed his presence so much over the last 8 years. However, it did not stop her from continuing to be the supportive “Ma” she had always been. She continued to go to any and all events that allowed her to support her sons and grandchildren.

She was an educated women and had a passion for helping educate. After graduating from Lawrenceville Township High School, she attended college and furthered her education. Rose earned degrees from Lincoln Trail College as a Para-Professional and Wabash Valley College in Early Childhood Development. Using her education, “Ms. Rose” worked as a teacher in the Head Start program and also at Bridgeport Grade School for many years. She touched the lives of so many children…truly giving them support and love.

Rose attended Shiloh Baptist Church when she was able and had a deep and devoted faith in the Lord. If you knew her, you know that she deeply believed in the power of prayer. Many of us benefitted from the prayers Rose offered up to the Lord.

She and Jim were known as Santa and Mrs. Claus for many years at local Christmas events. They enjoyed that time together spreading love and Christmas cheer. She was an avid baseball fan…especially the St. Louis Cardinals. To say that family was important to her would be an extreme understatement. She cherished any time and activity involving her family.

Those left to continue the legacy of Rose include: four sons- Timmie Seitzinger and wife Heather of Champaign, Mark Seitzinger of Lawrenceville, Chris Seitzinger and wife Brande of Bridgeport, and Doodle Seitzinger and wife Micki of Lawrenceville: twelve grandchildren- Austin Stevens and wife Tazra, Seattle Seitzinger, Jake Seitzinger and wife Alexus, Jayde Seitzinger, Tanner Seitzinger, Shelby Smith and husband Justin, Carlee Seitzinger, Angie Tracy and husband Rob, Chris Dining, Megan Seitzinger, Ally Seitzinger, and Breeann Seitzinger: thirteen great-grandchildren- Wyatt, Isaac, and Caia Stevens, Phoenix Clay, Zoe Collins, Rowe and Reese Tracy, Jerry Dining, Emersyn Seitzinger, Charlotte and Camdyn Reed, Brynlee Seitzinger, and Noah Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents- Vern and Ruby Vaught: her husband- Jim Seitzinger: sister- Carol Sue Vaught: brother- Bob Vaught and grandson Duke Collins.

As a dedicated fan of the Lawrenceville Indians, Red Hill Salukis, and the St. Louis Cardinals, it would please Rose to know that those attending her services wear clothing in support of their favorite team.

A visitation will be held at the Shiloh Baptist Church on Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow immediately at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will take place in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
