Ruthie A. Boldrey, age 84, of Olney, Illinois, formerly of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away on Monday, February 05, 2024 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois. She was born on July 05, 1939 in Lukin Township, Illinois, the daughter of Edward G. and Cleta (Dorney) Bass. Ruth graduated from Bridgeport Township High School in 1957. She served her country in the United States Women’s Army Corps, where she was a secretary. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 18 years at both the Richland County Memorial Hospital and the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital, where she retired. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Bridgeport. Her hobbies included bird watching, spending time with her cats, and listening to country music, especially Willie Nelson. She had a green thumb, was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan for many years, was a proud veteran, and loved her family. Survivors include five children, Anna Beard of Evansville, Indiana, Valerie Mann of Virginia, Mary Payne of Sumner, Illinois, Emily Zwilling of Olney, Illinois, and Emmett Padilla of Bridgeport, Illinois; one brother, Ed Bass of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents and one granddaughter, Ella Marie Zwilling. Private family services will be conducted.
