Sherrel Jean (Crump) Tracy, 79, was born on December 15, 1944 in Vincennes, IN, and died peacefully at her home in Flat Rock, IL on September 23, 2024.

Sherry was raised in Lawrenceville by her parents, Robert Crump and Norma Jean Berry. She graduated from Lawrenceville Township High School in 1963, after which she moved to Alton, IL, where she began raising her family. In 1974, she graduated from Kitzmiller Beauty College as a cosmetologist, a profession she practiced and excelled in for most of her life. Many will remember Sherry for her always-perfect black hair and her beautiful smile.

In 2013, Sherry reconnected with her mutual kindergarten and high school crush, David Tracy, and they were together from their first date forward. They married on June 25, 2014, and had ten wonderful years to catch up and cherish together.

Sherry was an amazing seamstress, cook, artist, crafter, and caretaker. Her home was filled with the labors of her love, and many of her family and friends were blessed with her famous “flower pot kids” or her crocheted afghans. She loved nothing more than to reminisce and tell stories about her family and her childhood. She was loved by so many and will be forever remembered.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Crump and Norma Jean Berry; her stepfather, Donald Berry; one sister, Pam Turner; one brother, Larry Crump; and by her son, Jeffrey David Level.

Surviving Sherry are her husband, David L. Tracy; one sister, Pat Martin; her daughters, Tamara Bowler (Jimmy), and Gina Hatcher (Jamie); two stepdaughters, Amy McClure (Greg) and Camilla Whitkanack (Gregg); grandchildren Drew Mattson (Hadleigh), Jenna Stemm (Daniel Weirich), Justin Level, Elana Hatcher, Alayna Whitkanack, Cameron McClure (Samantha), Eric McClure (Maisie), and Caitlin Weaver (Kevin); and great-grandchildren Nash Stemm, Reece Mattson, Hope Mattson, Isabella Level, Callum McClure, SJ McClure, Leddy McClure, and Arabella Weaver.
