Stephen Dean Blevins, age 74, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana.
Stephen Dean Blevins, age 74, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, August 10,
2024 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on September 10, 1949
in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Andrew J. and Sadie (Howe) Blevins. He married Linda
Bridwell on December 18, 1969, and she survives.
Steve served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from the United Methodist Village
as the director of maintenance; and was the owner of Up In Smoke BBQ and Southern Telecom
Corporation in Evansville, Indiana. He enjoyed competing in BBQ competitions in Nashville,
Tennessee, cooking, catering, and spending time with his grandchildren, they were his world. In
his earlier years he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid Green Bay Packers Football fan.
Preceding him in death his parents; five brothers, James Blevins, Robert Blevins, Roger Blevins,
Joe Blevins, and Jackie Blevins; and one granddaughter, Ashley Stevens.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; two children, Amy Marley and significant other, David
Hulfachor of St. Francisville, Illinois and Andrew Blevins of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two sisters,
Pat Cotton and husband, Charlie of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Chloe Zehner and husband,
Phillip of Evansville, Indiana; four grandchildren, Lauren Welton and husband, Cody; Mary
McCarter and husband, Heath, Amanda Marley, and Austin Blevins; and three great-
grandchildren, Bryer Welton, Ella Welton, and Collins McCarter.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 1:00 PM CDT at the
Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on
Thursday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM CDT at the funeral home.
