Timothy Joe Walls, age 61 of Bridgeport, passed away at his home Saturday, April 8, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born June 22, 1961 in Lawrenceville to Noble and Donna Jean (Wilcox) Walls. On December 15, 2014, Tim married Tammy Dannaman in Vincennes, IN. Tim and Tammy enjoyed their 8 years of marriage and she survives. After graduating from Red Hill High School, Tim spent a few years working various jobs to help build his skill set. Later, he began working for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). During his 30+ years at IDOT, he began his tenure in construction where he focused on building bridges. He was extremely proud of the roads and bridges he and his team built throughout Southern Illinois. Tim worked hard to grow in his career, and earned several awards along the way including Technician of the Year. He later moved to a position in the maintenance yards as an operations supervisor and retired as such in 2019. Tim spent much of his time at home tinkering in his garage fixing things or making home improvements. A few of his favorite pastimes include working on trucks with his son, Alex, and visiting with friends and family in the garage while watching cars go by. Quality time was important to Tim, and he appreciated catching up with anyone that stopped by. Tim’s grandkids would make him light up, and he loved when they came to visit. Surviving family includes: his wife- Tammy Walls of Bridgeport: two children- Brandy Walls of Olney and Alex Walls and wife Kelsi of Locust, NC: two step-children- Amy Ioerger and Cindy Ioerger both of Centralia: two siblings- Jon Mark Walls and wife Barbara, and Sandra Bell all of Bridgeport: six grandchildren- Kristian, Kelsea, Kyle, and Kendra Jellison, Lillian Higgins, and Lincoln Walls. He was preceded in death by his parents. A visitation will be held at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Cresthaven Memorial Park Cemetery near Claremont.
