Timothy ‘Tim’ James Tate, age 68, of Bridgeport, Illinois passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on May 11, 1954 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of James Monroe and Barbara Jean (Ferguson) Tate. He married Michele ‘Mitzi’ Woods on August 31, 1980, and she survives. Tim worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 33 years, and retired on December 31, 2016. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, riding his Harley Motorcycle, and spoiling his grandchildren. He enjoyed going to Kentucky Lake, as well as watching NASCAR, Kentucky Wildcats, and Chicago Bears. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife, Mitzi; three children, Timothy Shea (Billie Jo) Tate of Sumner, Illinois, Jeremy Grant Diggs of South Bend, Indiana, and Aaron Michael (Natasha Suzanne) Diggs of St. Petersburg, Florida; two siblings, Terri (Terry ‘Doc’) Inboden of Bridgeport, Illinois and Ricky (Tammy) Tate of Bridgeport, Illinois; six grandchildren, Megan Tate, Gavin Diggs, Davon’ta Eastwood, Sierra Hudson, Kiesha Hudson, and Mariah Eastwood; one great-grandchild, Millie; several nieces and nephews; as well as his three dogs, Baylee, Murphy, and Mandy; and one cat, Opie. A celebration of life will be conducted on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Lanterman Park Pavilion, located at 349 Park Street in Bridgeport, Illinois 62417.
