
Vera Evelyn Piper, age 67 of Bridgeport, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving children.
Vera Evelyn Piper, age 67 of Bridgeport, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving children. She was born June 28, 1957, in Peoria to Benjamin Franklin Coy, Sr. and his wife Thelma Jean (Glover) Coy.
On September 6, 1983, Vera married Eddie Verl Piper at the First Christian Church in Lawrenceville. They raised their family and made many beautiful memories until his passing on July 27, 1998.
Vera was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 28, enjoyed watching Lifetime and Hallmark shows, and would always try to make it to the Legion on Tuesdays to hang out with her family and friends. Her family was the light of her life. She took every opportunity to spend time with them and made sure they knew she loved them. Her dog, Zena, held a special place in her heart as well.
She had worked at the Spot Cafe, Central Industries, and Roadmaster.
Those left to continue loving her and keeping her legacy alive include: three children- Nikki Piper Catt of Bridgeport, Dustin Piper and wife Dottie of Bridgeport, and Travis Piper and wife Stevie of Chauncey; seven grandchildren- Megan Leistner, Nicholas Graham, Allison Logsdon, Coy Piper, Ash Piper, Madelyn Piper, and Rosalie Piper; and three great-grandchildren- Bentley Bell, Rowen Leistner, and Jaelin Leistner.
She was preceded in death by: her parents- Benjamin Franklin Coy, Sr. and Thelma Jean Coy; four brothers- Benjamin Franklin Coy, Jr., Alvin Coy, David Coy, and Richard Coy; and two sisters- Brenda Sullivan and Betty Sullivan.
A visitation will be held Monday, February 24, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Petty (Pleasant Hill) Cemetery.
