Victor R. McClain, age 80, of St. Francisville, Illinois passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on October 01, 1942 in East Chicago, Indiana, the son of Rene McClain and Edna (Elsie) Wicklin. He married Margaret Burr on September 21, 1963, and she survives. Victor worked for Nabisco Bakery in Chicago for 35 years. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking, and reading. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf. He was a member of the Point and Retrieve Bird Hunters Club. His family and grandchildren meant everything to him. Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Marian McClain; one brother, Charles; one sister, Karen; one brother-in-law, David; and one niece, Teri Ross. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Marilyn D. (John) Smith of Plano, Illinois and Deborah (Bill) Zultowski of St. Francisville, Illinois; four grandchildren; Diana (Shannon) Zultowski, Billy (Ashley) Zultowski, Shannon Smith, and Zeth Victor Zultowski; one great-grandchild, Lawson Zultowski; one sister-in-law, Marion Byrd; one nephew, Douglas (Mariah) Barrett; and one niece, Kara (Dustin) Anderson. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 5:30 PM CST at the Emmons-Macey ; Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 PM until the service hour of 5:30 PM CST at the funeral home. A private burial will be conducted at a later date.
