Victor ‘Vic’ L. Volkman, age 72, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, August 02, 2023 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born on February 27, 1951 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Victor V. and Patty Yvonne (Condiff) Volkman. He was married to Patricia ‘Pat’ Laslie, and she survives. Vic was an auto mechanic, and then worked in maintenance at the Kettering Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was a member of the Immanuel Tabernacle in St. Francisville. He was a collector, enjoyed watching NASCAR, golfing, as well as spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Bradley Volkman; and one sister, Veronica Kirkwood. Survivors include his wife, Pat; two children, Nancy Sherman of St. Francisville, Illinois and Jennifer Hopkins and friend, Dennis Schmudlach of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one daughter-in-law, Marcie Mefford and husband, Aaron of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one brother, Roger Volkman and wife, Rita of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one brother-in-law, Jerry Kirkwood of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one uncle, Chuck Condiff and wife, Patty; one cousin, Terry Wimberly; nine grandchildren, Tanner Volkman, Dylan Volkman, Noah Volkman, Morgan Mefford, Brianna Mefford, Anita Hopkins, Levi Mick, Alex Hopkins, and Bradley Hopkins; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 08, 2023 at 4:00 PM CDT at the Emmons-Macey ; Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM CDT at the funeral home. A private burial will be conducted at a later date in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
