William Howard "Posie" Lynn, age 91 of Lawrenceville, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospital of Vincennes, IN. He was born June 11, 1932, in Wickliffe, Kentucky to Virgil and Neva (Garner) Lynn. Posie was a 1952 graduate of St. Francisville High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He married Margaret Rae Leighty, the love of his life, on June 16, 1957, and they were married 65 years. Together they had two children, Carol Ann and Danny Mack. Posie was a retired union Boilermaker, a member of Local 374 for 65 years. His hobbies included bird hunting, fishing, pulling ponies and his morning coffee group. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Posie was a member of the First Christian Church of Bridgeport, VFW Post 2244 of Lawrenceville, American Legion Post 947 of St. Francisville and a 50-year member of the Masonic Stellar Lodge 912. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, great grandson Wyatt Daniel Rue, sister Barbara (Lynn) Wiese, and brother-in-law Kenny LeGrand. He is survived by his children- Carol Rue of Lawrenceville and Danny Lynn of St. Francisville: granddaughters- Mykel Taylor and husband Jerod of Patoka, Indiana and Amy Cole and husband Matt of Flora, Illinois: great grandchildren- Walynn Taylor, Jaxon Cole, William Rue, and Sophie Cole: sisters- Dorothy LeGrand of St. Francisville and Carolyn Hoh and husband Terry of St. Francisville along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. CST on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville with visitation held prior to the funeral from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Masonic rites will be accorded to Mr. Lynn at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home as well. Military rites will be given at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the First Christian Church of Bridgeport and/or VFW Transportation Fund directly or through the funeral home. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.cunninghamfuneralhomes.com.
