The Lawrenceville basketball Indians used a suffocating second half defensive effort to break open a close game and defeated the Carlisle County (Kentucky) Comets 50-30 Saturday at the Legence Bank Shootout in Marion (Ill.).
The Comets led 13-11 after one quarter, but the Tribe gradually began to pull away and led 28-19 at the half.
The Indians then put the clamps on the Comets offense holding them to just 2 points in the third quarter while increasing their lead after three quarters to 41-21 and then allowed only 9 more points in the fourth to win by 20.
Game MVP Noah Wilson came off the bench to lead the way with 15 points while Zander Cessna added 12 and Maddux Pargin 11.
The Indians have won 2 in a row and host South Knox (Ind) Tuesday at Lawrenceville High School.
