The South Knox (Ind) basketball Spartans came to Lawrenceville Tuesday night and used strong rebounding and key free throws down the stretch to beat the host Indians 68-60, snapping the Tribe's two game winning streak.
The Indians led 15-14 after one quarter, but fell behind at the half 31-28. The Spartans answered Indian challenges in the third quarter to lead 47-45 and then executed in the final period against full court pressure to notch the 8 point win.
The 6-2 Indians were led by Maddox Pargin with 15 points before fouling out late with Noah Wilson and Zander Cessna adding 12 and 10 points respectively.
The 2-2 Spartans were paced by Justin Siewers with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
The Indian JV also lost for the first time this season to fall to 2-1 with Bobby Duffy scoring 13 points.
Lawrenceville will look to get back on the winning track Friday when they begin Little Illini Conference play hosting Mt Carmel.
