A nation-wide program called “America 250” intends to celebrate the history of the United States leading up to 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776. The State of Indiana will be participating in these efforts, as well as Marshall County. A committee has been formed, titled “Marshall County 250”, and they are tasked with encouraging, promoting, and advertising events from now through July of 2026 in our area. The first event to be featured is entitled “Two Lights for Tomorrow” and will be held on Friday, April 18th 2025 at 8:30 PM at the Marshall County Courthouse located at 211 W. Madison Street in Plymouth Indiana. “Two Lights for Tomorrow” will focus on Paul Revere’s Midnight Ride to warn the colonists of the British Invasion. Featuring members from Culver Academies’ Black Horse Troop and Equestriennes, this historic event will be discussed while saddle-bound riders encircle the courthouse and two lanterns shine atop the courthouse. This is an event open to everyone and will be a great chance to learn about the historic events that led to the creation of the United States of America as well as see horses from Culver Academies’ Black Horse Troop and Equestriennes.
