April 2024 Marshall County Jail & Sheriff's Dept. Report

Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel released the April Jail and Sheriff’s Department Report.

The Jail Report lists the top ten reasons individuals were booked into jail last month. 

Failure to Appear (22) Operator Never Licensed (15) Domestic Battery (9) Operating While Intoxicated (7) Possession of Marijuana (7) Maintaining a Common Nuisance (5) Violation of Home Detention/Pre-Trial Release (5) False Informing (5) Battery (5) and Possession of Methamphetamine (4)

There was a total of 103 individuals booked into the jail in April by the various departments.  The Argos Police Department made 2 arrests, Bourbon Police had 1 arrest, Bremen officers made 6 arrests, and Culver Police booked 3 people into the jail.  Indiana State Police Troopers booked 8 people into the county jail while Plymouth Police Officers made 20 arrests, Community Corrections had 4 arrests, and officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department made 59 arrests.

The population report was created on May 9th with 135 inmates in the Marshall County Jail, 112 males and 23 females.  There were 4 inmates serving time on misdemeanour charges and 52 serving time with felony charges.  67 inmates were being held for pre-trial, 10 awaiting arraignment, 1 was being held for another agency and 1 was convicted but not sentenced.

The April 2024 average daily population was 135 inmates.  Six months earlier, in October, the average daily population was 144, and one year ago, in April 2023, the average daily population was 144. 

Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated 51 property damage accidents in April and 4 personal injury accidents.   Officers wrote 62 case reports, issued 117 citations and warnings, and conducted 31 security checks.  

There are currently 1,346 active warrants that haven’t been serviced. 

The Marshall County Central Dispatch Center answered a total of 3,596 calls in April, 1,115 were 911 calls and 99.37% of those calls were answered in 10 seconds or less.  1,131 calls were for the Sheriff’s Department and the remaining 1,350 calls were for information.
