Generations of children have learned how to swim at the Plymouth Public Pool. For the last several summers, the Blueberry Splash has partnered with the Plymouth Park Department and Deb Friar at Small Wonders Day Care to provide children swim lessons at no charge. Last year the Blueberry Splash provided free lessons to 35 kids enrolled in the Small Wonders Day Care! With the generosity and hard work of the Blueberry Splash leadership, many children in our community will learn to swim free of charge this summer.
The Blueberry Splash fundraiser happens on Sunday morning of Labor Day weekend when 30 to 40 seasoned swimmers show up at the west end of beautiful Myers Lake at 10:00 a.m. and swim 1 mile as fast as they can. Awards are given to the 1st through 3rd place finishers. Holloway said, “We would love to have more than 50 swimmers, so start training early so you can join in the fun!” The State Police Dive Team is always present to make sure that all participants safely finish the race.
There are several ways that the community can participate in the fundraising efforts.
Would you like to participate as a swimmer? Go to the Blueberry Splash Facebook page for the registration form, event schedule, and rules.
Would you like to participate as a sponsor? Sponsor checks can be made payable to The Blueberry Splash and mailed to 12086 Peach Road in Plymouth. All sponsor names will be listed on the t-shirts and posted on the Start/Finish line.
