Friday at 3:15 a.m., Corporal Schieber with the Plymouth Police Department was patrolling the Economy Inn on North Michigan Street when he saw a male walking through the parking lot who matched the description of a wanted person.

The male repeatedly gave false information, hindering Officer Schieber’s investigation, before being transported to the Marshall County Jail.  At the jail and with the assistance of a translator, it was finally determined that the male was in fact the wanted suspect, Rigoberto Hernandez-Castillo, 41 of the 900 Block of West Harrison Street in Plymouth.

Hernandez-Castillo was lodged in the Marshall County Jail for two outstanding warrants and a new felony charge of obstruction of justice.  He was held on a $6,160 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
