Officer Ayala with the Plymouth Police Department stopped a vehicle for a lane violation near the BP Gas Station at 423 N. Michigan Street on Monday, February 3rd, at 11:45 p.m.
During the investigation, it was discovered that 23-year-old Dawson Santos of North Plum Street in Plymouth had no valid license. Plymouth Police K-9 Officer Vinson and his K-9 partner Castor assisted in the investigation. K-9 Castor alerted to narcotics in the vehicle, giving probable cause for a search.
Santos was transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked and lodged for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia and held on a $250 cash bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings, entitled to be represented by counsel, and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
