Commissioner Seek County Tourism Board members

In February the Marshall County Commissioners adopted an ordinance that establishes the Marshall County Tourism Commission.

The ordinance creates a seven-member board with five members being appointed by the Marshall County Commissioners, and the Mayor of Plymouth having the final two appointments.

Ultimately the members will serve two-year terms.  To get the commission started one of the mayor’s appointments and two of the commissioner’s appointments will end on December 31, 2024.  After their initial appointments, they too will be two-year appointments.   The terms for the other mayor’s appointment and the other three commissioner appointees will expire December 31, 2025.

The Marshall County Commissioners are currently accepting resumes from county residents who are interested in serving on the commission.  According to State Statute, the majority of members, at least four, must be engaged in the business of tourism, convention, or hospitality.

The commissioners have not received many applications or resumes. Previous tourism members may submit for the position.  Towns in the county may submit recommendations for representatives on the commission but they too are required to apply or submit a resume for consideration.  The commissioners will conduct interviews of the candidates interested in a position on the County Tourism Commission.
