During Tuesday's meeting, the Marshall County Commissioners agreed to increase the insurance deductible for their Civil Rights Policy from $2,500 to $10,000 saving the county $40,000 on their property and Casualty Insurance policy.
Stephen Sullivan from Gibson Insurance and Mike Miley, the county’s insurance consultant, told the commissioners that the annual premium would be $861,258, but an option to increase the deductible would save $40,000 a year.
County Commissioner Jesse Bohannon said, “Accepting a higher deductible is wise. I always hate to say this but with the amount of cash we have we can absorb some deductibles if we need to.”
The County Commissioners unanimously approved increasing the deductible on the Civil Rights Policy from $2,500 to $10,000. They also approved with a 3-0 vote to approve the new insurance policy for $820,738.
