Over 9,000 individuals have already voted for today’s presidential election in Marshall County.
The Marshall County Election Board met Monday afternoon to count the early mail-in, email, travel board and walk-in votes in each of the 29 precincts in the county. This is part of the checks and balances process to be sure each vote is counted, and only counted one time.
Members of the Election Board counted 1118 mail-in and email ballots with 55 mail-in ballots still outstanding. The Election Board will accept the mail-in ballots from the post office until 6 p.m. today. The Marshall County Travel Board voted 192 individuals including a 90-year-old in the hospital in Indianapolis and one in the hospital in Mishawaka.
Walk-in voting happened for a month in the Marshall County Clerk's Office with a total of 7,097 individuals taking the time to vote early. There were also 310 people who voted early in Culver on Saturday, October 26, and 542 who voted early in Bremen on November 2. That means 9,259 walk-in machine votes were also cast for today’s election.
The grant total of early votes cast was 9,259.
Four years ago, in the last Presidential Election, which was also during the COVID pandemic, a total of 10,129 individuals voted early.
