The Marshall County Sheriff's Office released information Wednesday morning on a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday that claimed the life of an Argos woman and seriously injured another driver.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the crash on Lincoln Highway east of King Road at about 6:15 p.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Ford F-250 driven by Franco Milian, 46, was traveling west on Lincoln Highway and crossed the centerline for an unknown reason.
The truck sideswiped an eastbound 2023 Chrysler minivan operated by Marshall Starke Development Center while its driver attempted an evasive maneuver toward a ditch to avoid being struck. It then struck a 2013 Ford Escape head-on in the eastbound lane.
The driver of the Ford Escape, Aniesha Himes, 20, of Argos, was pronounced dead at the scene by Marshall County Chief Deputy Coroner Dean Byers.
Police say the truck came to a rest facing south on Lincoln Highway before catching fire. Milian was reportedly pinned inside, and the fire was suppressed until firefighters could fully extinguish it and remove him.
Milian was airlifted to the trauma center at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. A passenger in his truck was uninjured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation. The Plymouth Police Department, Plymouth Fire Department, Plymouth EMS, Lutheran EMS, and Samaritan Helicopter assisted the Marshall County Sheriff's Office.
