On Saturday, September 21, living residents of Culver will once again have a chance to hear from some of their departed fellow citizens as the Culver Historical Society and Culver-Union Township Public Library presents the fifth “Stories and Stones” cemetery walk.
Scheduled to premiere promptly at 1 p.m. in the Masonic Cemetery on South Main Street, the perennially popular program’s portrayals for this year include Civil War Veteran John Quinn (reenacted by Dr. Mark Couts); Culver Military Academy Head Waiter Charles Dickerson (Harold Clarke, CMA 1974); Businessman and Vigilante Oliver Shilling (Joe Fox, Executive Director, CUTPL); Police Chief Don Mikesell (Prof. Donald Mikesell, Jr.); Pharmacists Robert McKinnis and Ronold Tusing (Scot McKinnis and Ryan Tusing); and Officer Eunice Burns Schrimsher, remembered by Chelsea Schrimsher, her granddaughter. CHS Board member and Culver Academies archivist Jeffrey P. Kenney will preside.
After the presentations, guests are invited to visit the gravesites of the decedents.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments and seating will be provided, but guests are also invited to bring their own lawn chairs.
