Officers with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired plates on Sunday, May 11th, at about 5:45 p.m. The driver was later identified as Santiago Sanchez-Montes, 33, of Elkhart.
The officer determined during the stop that Sanchez-Montes had never had a license. He was taken into custody for operator never licensed. The vehicle was towed due to expired plates and no insurance, and he was transported to Marshall County Jail and booked in for operator never licensed.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
