Friday night house fire ends with arrest of residents for drugs

Friday evening, March 15th, at approximately 9:45, the Plymouth Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 1234 Fairbanks Avenue.  The Plymouth Police Department assisted at the scene.   

As firefighters attempted to locate and put the fire out, a male later identified as Cody Brown, 39 of Plymouth, repeatedly attempted to interfere with the fire department's response. Once the fire was put out, suspected narcotics and paraphernalia were seen in plain view.

Plymouth Police Officers obtained a search warrant and approximately 73 grams of suspected methamphetamine was seized. Paraphernalia and suspected marijuana-THC gummies were also seized along with a firearm.

Cassandra Davis, 43, and Cody Brown, 39, residents were taken into custody and lodged at the Marshall County Jail.

Davis is being held on a pending felony charge of maintaining a common nuisance.

Brown has criminal charges pending for possession of methamphetamine as a level 3 felony, trafficking with an inmate as a level 5 felony, neglect of a dependent and maintaining a common nuisance as a level 6 felony, refusing to leave an emergency incident area as an A misdemeanor, possession of marijuana with a prior as an A misdemeanor, and possession of paraphernalia as a C misdemeanor. Cody Brown is being held on a $20,000 cash bond.

The Plymouth Police Department was assisted by the Marshall County Drug Task Force.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
