The Heartland Art Center invites the public to celebrate two major fall events highlighting the local and regional arts community.
Wrapping up a month of vibrant artistic display, the 36th Annual Regional Juried Art Exhibit will conclude with a free closing reception on Friday, November 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. It will be an evening of awards, live music, and refreshments as they honor 164 exceptional works by 84 artists from Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Texas.
“We’re excited to hold this year’s 36th Annual Regional Juried Art Exhibit for the first time in our new location. The extra space has allowed us to accept more artwork and engage with more artists across the region,” said Anna Kietzman, President of Heartland Art Center. “We are thrilled with the participation from so many talented artists across northern Indiana and beyond. It’s always a joy to welcome back past participants and see the new works they’re creating, and it’s equally exciting to greet new artists who bring fresh perspectives to this long standing exhibition.”
This year’s exhibit, featuring pieces in various mediums and subjects, has been proudly supported by the generosity of local Merit Award sponsors including MoonTree Studios, Marcia Price Art Fund, The Gibson Foundation, Laney Family Honey Co., Ed and June Pullen, Mike and Tresa Hammond, Kathy Zentz, Jon Miller, Greg and Susan Payne, Eleanor and Randy Danielson, Faith Beaupre, Russell Kietzman, and Carl and Tonya Stockberger. Additionally, we are grateful for the Purchase Award Providers who have supported individual artists by purchasing their works prior to the show’s opening. The public can view the art one last time, enjoy appetizers, beer, wine, and live music—all free of charge. Awards will be presented at 7 p.m.
As November ushers in a new art experience, the Heartland Art Center is thrilled to announce its 2nd Annual Black and White Gala on Friday, November 15, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. This elegant event is designed for art enthusiasts and community members alike, inviting them to an evening of artistry, auction excitement, and live music by acoustic duo Dylan and Chandler of This Homemade Conspiracy. Guests are encouraged to wear creative cocktail attire in black and white for a stylish, immersive night. The event will feature a variety of auction items, including one-of-a-kind artworks and unique creative experiences in both silent and live formats.
The gala’s $40 per person ticket price includes entry, two beverage tickets, access to a beautifully curated charcuterie table by Gather 2 Graze and desserts by La D’zert Cafe, live music, and some creative experiences. Tickets are available at heartlandartcenter.org, by calling 574-316-0264, or by visiting the Center at 214 N. Michigan Street. Tickets are limited and attendees are strongly encouraged to purchase them ahead of time.
In addition to these special events, Heartland Art Center hosts free live music every Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., offering visitors a relaxing hour of music surrounded by inspiring artwork. We invite everyone to bring their coffee or lunch and enjoy the space.
