A Plymouth Police traffic stop for speeding resulted in the arrest of a Plymouth man on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and driving while suspended with a prior.

On Saturday, Corporal Ben McIntyre stopped Miguel Hernandez of Charles Street in Plymouth for speeding. During the investigation, it was learned that Hernandez had previously been charged with driving while suspended. While taking an inventory of the vehicle, a loaded firearm was located.

Hernandez was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail without incident.  He was booked in for driving while suspended and a felon in possession of a firearm.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury, at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
