To help Indiana schools celebrate Earth Day 2025, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is again offering free hands-on classroom presentations for elementary students across the state. Each year, IDEM staff visit schools to discuss their careers and share STEM-based lessons on air, land, water, and recycling.
Classroom Earth Day presentations are available for elementary schools and last 30 to 50 minutes. IDEM professionals throughout the state conduct these presentations, sharing their experiences and the variety of careers offered through IDEM. Teachers can select from several interactive presentations focusing on topics such as recycling and reducing trash, the lifespan of waste in landfills, watersheds, the water cycle, and air quality.
In-person classroom presentations are available throughout April on a first-come, first-served basis, and each school may request up to four presentations. Registration opens on February 3 and ends on February 21.
