Illinois man and South Bend woman arrested in two traffic stops for OWI and possession of marijuana

A Harvey, Illinois, man and a South Bend woman were arrested on Friday and Saturday for operating while intoxicated and possession of marijuana. 

At about 1:30 in the morning on Friday, Corporal Schieber with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Shalley Drive and Belmont Street because of a registration violation. 

During the officer's investigation, the driver was identified as Jasminelee Prysock, 34, of Harvey, Illinois.  Prysock was found to be in possession of marijuana and impaired.  As a result of the officer's investigation, Prysock was taken into custody and lodged in the Marshall County Jail on the preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of marijuana. 

Saturday morning, April 5, at approximately 12:20, Corporal Schieber stopped a vehicle on Pioneer Drive after it left Loves Truck Stop and was reported as being impaired.

During the traffic stop, the driver was identified as 56-year-old Vera Baxter of South Bend. During the officer's investigation, medical attention was sought for Baxter due to a reported fall prior to the traffic stop. As a result of the investigation, Baxter was found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody and lodged at the Marshall County Jail for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of marijuana.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
