During their meeting, the Marshall County Commissioners terminated the countywide Burn Ban Monday.

The termination was effective immediately.

On October 9, the Commissioners imposed the burn ban due to Marshall County’s moderate drought conditions and extended periods with no rainfall. Additionally, periods of high winds exacerbated the risk of fires burning out of control. Marshall County has now received enough rain, and the weather conditions are more favorable for burning, thus warranting the termination of the burn ban.

Regardless of the weather conditions or burn ban status, please exercise caution whenever you conduct outdoor burning. Additionally, be courteous to neighbors who are sensitive to smoke.

The Marshall County Commissioners, Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director Jack Garner, and local fire departments are grateful to those who respected the ban and postponed their burning plans and helped spread awareness of the burn ban when it was issued.
