Officer Witkowski with the Plymouth Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a red Acura traveling south on North Michigan Street Monday at about 12:30 a.m.
The driver, Manuel Garcia Lopez, 44, who lives in the Red Rock Inn in Plymouth, was found operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a driver's license.
Marshall County Central Dispatch Center also discovered that he had previously used an alias of Alonso Jimenez-Rivera.
Marshall County had an active arrest warrant issued for the Alonso subject, so Garcia-Lopez was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked for the charges of operating without a license, false reporting, the warrant for failure to appear, and an out-of-county hold. His cash bond was $500 for the new charges.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings, entitled to be represented by counsel, and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
