North Carolina man arrested by county police for marijuana

Officer Truty with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department arrested a North Carolina man early Saturday morning, July 20th after observing him commit a moving violation.

At approximately 12:50 a.m., the deputy conducted a traffic stop on Pioneer Drive near Lincoln Highway for a moving violation. During the investigation the officer discovered the 38-year-old driver, Kurt T De La Rosa of Barnardsville, NC to be in possession of marijuana.

An Indiana Conservation Officer that had stopped to assist discovered Mr. De La Rosa to be in possession of items related to a protected species.  He was transported to the Marshall County Jail for possession of marijuana and held on a $250 cash bond.  

The department of natural resources is conducting a separate investigation.

 

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
