Shortley before 7 p.m. the North Township Fire Department responded to U.S. 31 near 6th Road for a semi stopped on the side of the road and was fully engulfed.
Southbound traffic was stopped by a Mishawaka Police Officer who was also south bound on U.S. 31.
Firefighters from North Township asked for mutual aid by way of an engine and a tanker from the Plymouth Fire Department.
Firefighters from Plymouth assisted with a crew and water.
