Plymouth Building Commissioner Dennis Manuwal updated the Board of Public Works and Safety members on the unsafe building at 801 Jackson Street.
In a letter to the property owner, Romero Rafael Quintana, dated March 5, Manuwal ordered the owner to repair or rehabilitate the structure and bring it into compliance with standards for human habitation; seal all openings against unauthorized people and the effects of the weather; and repair the electrical service meter and have it securely fastened.
The building commissioner told the City Council that the owner came to his office on March 7 and that he would be demolishing the building.
The building commissioner also asked for approval to seek quotes to repair the roof on the historic fire station/city hall building at the corner of Washington and Center Streets, and the Board of Public Works and Safety approved his request.
