Plymouth Robotics hosts annual "I Love My Robot" Competition

On Feb. 8, Plymouth Robotics hosted the Annual "I Love My Robot" Extravaganza, the largest competition by team registration in the state. Despite a few no-shows due to weather and ISSMA conflicts, an impressive 73 teams attended the event.

This year, organizers introduced a new format by splitting Middle and High School levels. Most competitions are traditionally 'blended competitions,' where high school and middle school teams compete against each other. The new split format provided a more level playing field for participants.

The event yielded outstanding results for Plymouth Robotics. Lincoln Team 587Z "Zingbots" emerged as tournament champions. The winning team members include Faith Jasinski, Hayden Barnhart, and Sydney Morrison, led by Assistant Jr. High Coach Trisha Crawford and Head Jr. High Coach Ashley Oliver. Team members not pictured: Luci Hamand and Carter Richards. As a result of their success, 587Z received an invitation to the prestigious US Open Invitational.

In the high school division, Team 586E "Easy Breezy" claimed the title of High School Tournament Champions. Team members include Cora Hanes, Jonah Rich, Wyatt Houin, and Freddy Kallenberg, with additional members Chance Miller and Tyler Martin not pictured. Their victory secured them a spot at the Indiana State Championship in Indianapolis on March 22.

Other teams also had notable performances:

• Lincoln Team 587W "Pinknadoes," represented by Camden Crawford, Jack Hartley, and Zeke Kallenberg, showcased their skills and teamwork.
• 
• Team 587X "Flying Purple Pigs," featuring Kayden Bluhm, Macie Lenig, and Scarlett Oliver, also delivered strong performances.
