Plymouth Community School Corporation announced the appointment of Officer Steve DeLee as the second School Resource Officer (SRO) for the district. Officer DeLee brings extensive experience and a deep commitment to serving the Plymouth community, making him an excellent addition to their team.
Officer DeLee's career in law enforcement began with his graduation from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in 1998. He spent 3 1/2 years with the Roseland Police Department before joining the Plymouth Police Department in 2000, where he has faithfully served for over two decades.
In addition to his practical experience, DeLee is a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. His dedication to enhancing safety within educational settings was further underscored by his completion of the Indiana School Resource Officer Association (INSROA) Basic School Resource Officer Certification.
Expressing enthusiasm for his new role, Officer DeLee shared, "I'm excited to work directly with the students and contribute to a safer environment where they can thrive academically. As a full-time SRO, I look forward to having more opportunities to support our school community during daily activities."
As part of his responsibilities, DeLee will be co-teaching the Criminal Justice North Central CTE class alongside fellow SRO Bridget Hite at the Lincoln Education Center, underscoring his commitment to both student safety and education within Plymouth.
Officer DeLee has been a resident of Plymouth for the past 22 years, originally hailing from South Bend. He and his wife Shelley are proud parents to three children: CJ, Connor, and Austin. All three children attended Plymouth Schools, with CJ currently in his senior year at Plymouth High School. Officer DeLee and Mrs. DeLee are thrilled to become grandparents in September when Austin and his wife welcome their daughter.
Please join the Plymouth Community School Corporation in welcoming Officer Steve DeLee as their new School Resource Officer. His extensive experience, coupled with his dedication to the community's safety and well-being, makes him an invaluable asset to Plymouth Community School Corporation.
