Marshall County Relay for Life will be held this Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. in River Park Square in downtown Plymouth.

The entire county is encouraged to join the walk against cancer and an evening of music, food, a silent auction, a luminary ceremony, and fellowship.

This year, 10 teams are participating, but anyone can join the walk. The teams have worked all year fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Teams have participated in a group yard sale, Hacienda Give Back Night, sold concessions during the Mayor’s Summer of Music concert events and sold Daffodils during the annual event. The Southwire team will be selling their famous walking tacos as a team fundraiser Saturday night.

This year’s goal is $25,000 and Marshall County Relay is close to meeting that goal.

The Relay begins at 5 p.m. with the opening ceremony followed by the Survivor’s Walk and the second lap of survivors and their caregivers.  The silent auction runs from 5:30 until 8. The moving luminary ceremony takes place at 9.  Luminaries will line the track and honor those that have lost their battle with cancer, those who are fighting the dreaded disease and even those who have survived.  Anyone can purchase a luminary for a $5 donation.  Bags are ready to be decorated, or you can purchase one already decorated.

Even through the COVID pandemic Marshall County Relay for Life took up the challenge hosting a drive through event.

Anyone interested in getting a team together for next year’s event can go to www.relayforlife.org for details and to register.

Marshall County Relay for Life will host a Chicken and Noodle Fundraiser on September 26th at the national headquarters of Bob’s Cafeteria on East Jefferson Street.  Tickets are $12 and will be available during Saturday night’s Relay for Life event in Plymouth.
