U.S. Senator Todd Young applauded passage of the Healthcare Cybersecurity Act, bipartisan legislation he helped introduce with Senator Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.), by the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee earlier this month.
“I am pleased that this bill to improve cybersecurity in health care received strong support at the committee level, and I urge the full Senate to pass this bipartisan bill soon,” said Senator Young.
In recent years, hospitals and other health care facilities in Indiana and across America have experienced a dramatic increase in cyberattacks. The Healthcare Cybersecurity Act would bolster the health care and public health sectors’ cybersecurity in light of these devastating cyberattacks. The bipartisan bill will take critical steps to strengthen cybersecurity infrastructure and better protect patients’ personal data.
The bill passed the committee 10-1 and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.
