South Bend man arrested by County Police for marijuana, speeding, expired plates

Marshall County Deputy, Matt Geiger stopped a vehicle for speeding on U.S. 30 Monday just after 7 p.m.

The deputy observed a beige Mercury traveling on U.S. 30 east of Michigan Road at 89 mph in a 60 mph zone. The driver was Brien King, 26, of South Bend.

During the time of the traffic stop, Deputy Geiger located marijuana and paraphernalia. King also had in his possession narcotic pills that he had no prescription for.

Brien King was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail for processing. Mr. King was also cited for speeding, expired license plates, and no insurance and held on a $1500 cash bond. 

 

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
