On Saturday, July 20th at approximately 11:20 pm, a deputy with the Marshall County Department conducted a traffic stop on 4th Road west of Fir Road for a moving violation. During the investigation it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle, 25-year-old Jairo Alejandro Ponce-Ulloa of Washington Street in Bremen, did not have a valid license. The deputy also discovered that the vehicle contained Marijuana.
Ponce-Ulloa and a passenger, Jose De Jesus Lopez Tapia of East Street in Bremen were transported to the Marshall County Jail. Both were booked in for Possession of Marijuana. Ponce-Ulloa was also booked for Operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a license.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
