An underage drinker led Plymouth Police on a short pursuit early Sunday morning, March 2nd

At 3:10 a.m., an officer with the Plymouth Police Department observed a vehicle driving recklessly through the intersection of Jefferson and Michigan Streets. The vehicle immediately attempted to flee, and a pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit, the vehicle attempted to evade the police before stopping behind a residence on East Jefferson Street.

The driver, 20-year-old Ronny Bohorquez-Barboza of the 500 block of East Jefferson Street, was immediately taken into custody.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Bohorquez-Barboza was almost three times the legal limit. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for resisting law enforcement, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a BAC of .15% or greater, operating a vehicle while intoxicated - endangerment, reckless driving, operating a vehicle without obtaining a license, and minor in possession of alcohol. He was held on a $1,500 cash bond until about 5 p.m., when his bond was paid.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
