Recently, glass fell out of a second-story window at the City Center, 114 North Michigan Street, in downtown Plymouth. Fortunately, the glass fell onto the sidewalk late at night, and no one was injured.
Owner Jim Vinall appeared before the Plymouth Common Council on Monday evening seeking a Commercial Revitalization Rebate Program Grant to help replace three windows. He told council members after checking the remaining windows that another one was in similar condition, so he needed to get repairs started immediately. He said the windows are a unique size, so they had to be special order and decided he should replace all three.
City Attorney Jeff Houin said the typical process for applying for the reimbursement is to provide at least two bids from reputable contractors and present them to the council. Once approved work can be completed. Houin said this was an emergency so council members could consider the request.
Vinall presented a bill for the windows and told the council he is doing the labor so he’s only asking for the reimbursement for the windows.
The Plymouth Common Council approved his request and approved a 20% reimbursement which is $565.86.
