Plymouth – Alice D. Johnson, 86, passed away at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka on April 8, 2024.
She was born on March 13, 1938 to Max and Beatrice (Bowman) Ottow.
Alice married Samuel Johnson on July 13, 1957 after growing up in Donaldson together. He was more bashful, but with Alice’s outgoing, lively personality, she made the first move to ask him on a date. They celebrated 53 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death on November 9, 2010.
Throughout the years, Alice’s favorite job was working as a bartender; it allowed her to have fun and be her true sociable self. Those who loved Alice knew that she didn’t know a stranger and could make friends wherever she went. Her bright spirit was an inspiration to those around her.
In her free time, Alice enjoyed sewing and mending clothes. She still had a sewing machine in her home even through her eyesight no longer allowed her to do so. Alice was a longtime member of the Pretty Lake Trinity United Methodist Church and often helped with the Mary Martha Group preparing meals.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Renea (Terry) Beldon; grandson, Aaron (Melynda) Beldon and their children, Keelin, Kenyan, Noraa, and Elijah; grandson, Chris (Ashley) Beldon, and their children, Emmett, Easton, and Elyse; grandson, Bryan; and sister, Melanie Flosenzier.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Johnson and parents, Max and Beatrice; brothers, Rob and Todd. Alice is also preceded by her great-grandson, Elias, son of Chris and Ashley.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 10-11AM at the New Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel, 1300 Chester Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. A committal service will be held immediately following at 11AM with Life Celebrant James Smart officiating.
